Hello Townsville!! Welcome to the keune4council website. I am privileged to run for Councillor of the New Townsville City Council. You will find on this website information on my education and work experience that give me the strength to consider being your representative. I am a hard worker. I am solution orientated. |
You will also find on this website information on the 5 main priority areas that I believe in : Rates and Infrastructure Safety Cultural Diversity Environment Youth But with all this said – my job is to be available when YOU as a rate payer and resident need to talk to a Councillor – and get the job fixed! I believe in long term planning for the sustainable future of our unique environment and lifestyle that makes us all live here. I seek your support for me to work with you. I ask that you might also assist me by – spreading the WORD! Sincerely, JOANNE KEUNE |
Rates & Infrastructure Forward to basics, doorknocking 2000 houses in the first election Joanne learn't clearly that as a Councillor her first and foremost priority must be to meet YOUR basic needs - good drainage, roads, non-barking dogs, lights to bright on street - it is these basic household needs that must be addressed. Joanne is concerned and have been for many years with both previous Council's that a thorough Complaint System does not exist. No follow-up - lost letters... Joanne aims to ensure that the complaint lodging system is efficient and most importantly problems effectively SOLVED. |
|
Public Safety You have a basic human right to be able to go for stroll on a warm summers evening in our Tropical Paradise. Living 10 years in the United States Joanne clearly learnt the unfortunate path the Western World seems to be on. Institutionalized Violence is a great fear for now - and the future. Joanne believes COMMUNITY is the Solution - joining forces with law enforcement, safety programs, proprietors, the wider community and the education system at all spheres, to ensure safe neighborhoods for all. |
|
Cultural Diversity Townsville is rich in Cultural Diversity. From the Cowboys to the Crocodiles to an International Chamber Music Festival, Professional Dance Company and more than 150 arts organisations in town. Our community is diverse with the richness also of our Indigenous and Migrant cultures. However, the arts need marketing support in Townsville with an aim to make more people aware of these dynamic affordable activities occurring across town. |
|
Joanne is dedicated to the necessary and owed to North Queensland (from State & Fed. Gov.) the infrastructure for the arts. Joanne is dedicated to the reconciliation of all human beings. This is a critical issue for the Townsville community. Together we must work - toward the future for all our children. If elected I will work toward the maintenance and ongoing development and celebration of our rich cultural diversity. READ MORE>> |
Environment & Sustainability Come on Townsville - we all know first and foremost why we live here - its our stunning World Heritage areas. But we must project and maintain our environment. With our Solar Cities program, Townsville is well placed to be a world leading Sustainable City. Local Government with appropriate bi-laws can be a major force in protecting our Environment. |

Visionary Planning. Too often Council's look at the short term. The bandaid fix, the 3 year plan. Townsville needs a substantial 100 year strategic Sustainable City plan - we need to plan NOW - for our public transport system, roads, sewerage, drainage and community development to ensure our continued lifestyle for generations to come. Youth Working as a General Manger for Dance North Joanne quickly learn't first hand - that it was not worth the $ or time to try to convert post 35 yr olds to the artform. It was the CHILDREN - where the time should be focused. Society has the enormous potential to use our compulsory education system to solidly provide the skills and information required by our young people to lead progressive, successful and happy lives. |
Townsville features an established primary, high, college and tertiary education system. Joanne began her leadership and commitment to education as the High School Captain of Pimlico High School in 1984. She has since spoken frequently on all the High School parades promoting Rostrum Voice of Youth, AFS Exchange Student. Ms KEUNE - teaches Public Speaking and volunatarily ran the NQ Rostrum Voice of Youth Competition for the past 3 years and the STATE final for 2008. Joanne is dedicated to the ongoing programs that aim to invest in and develop the skills of young people. She believes in working on a COMMUNITY level, and is prepared to look at NEW ways of looking at the solutions to the problems associated with the challenges youth face. READ MORE>> |
